Antique English Staddle Stone

$1,195

English staddle stones were originally used as supporting bases for granaries, hay ricks, beehives and game larders. Elevating the grain, or other edible, provided air circulation and discouraged animals from getting into the structure. This particular limestone staddle stone is from Kent, England and is well weathered with a round top and a tapered round base. This object is comprised of two separate pieces.
