Lead Pike Boy Fountain
$4,300
This vertical spouting lead fountain of a boy holding a fish is English made. A copy of a good sized fountain by Verrocchio (15th Century Italian sculptor), it makes a fine, central water feature. A virtue that all Verrocchio’s sculptures have in common, is that they have great movement from any direction they are viewed. Popular with garden designers Thomas Mawsom and Gertrude Jekyll, they made good use of Crowther casts of this fountain at the Canal, Boverage Park, Dorset in the early 20th century, recently beautifully restored. This statue is plumbed.
