Staddle stones were originally used as supporting bases for granaries. This is a good quality ham stone staddle stone from Somerset, England, with a relatively flat and wide top on a tapered square base. Ham stone is a distinctive honey colored limestone from the Ham Hill area of Somerset which weathers to a very attractive color.
