Staddle stones were originally used as supporting bases for granaries. This is a pair of good quality ham stone staddle stones from Somerset, England, with relatively flat and wide tops on tapered square bases. Ham stone is a distinctive honey colored limestone from the Ham Hill area of Somerset which weathers to a very attractive color.
